He's allied himself to California's seriously cool Vagrant Records.
James Vincent McMorrow has signed a North American deal with Vagrant, the Californian independent that also has the likes of Stars, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, School Of Seven Bells, eels, Placebo and The Hold Steady on its roster.
As a result, his debut Early In The Morning album will be getting a full US and Canadian release in the near future.
The Dublin singer-songwriter, who plays the Electric Picnic on the opening day, is also close to sealing a deal for the rest of the world.
“I don't have any specific dates for the release just yet, I only put pen to paper on this late last night, but we've been working incredibly hard over the last couple of months putting this together,” McMorrow says. “Having met and talked with a lot of different labels trying to find the perfect home for me and my songs, as soon as I spoke to the guys at Vagrant I was completely sold. Their commitment and passion for what I do is incredible, and I cannot wait to get working with them. Their roster of artists is unreal – it will take me a long time to get my head around, if I ever do at all!”
To ensure that his Irish fans don’t feel neglected, McMorrow is lining up some live dates and “a rather special limited vinyl release or two.”
