PJ Curtis' 1999 radio series The Roots of Rock 'n Roll is being repeated on RTÉ's digital channel Radio Choice each Friday morning until September 24.
It's a stimulating ten-hour, ten-part, series examining the various pre-50's music genres , including blues/gospel/country etc, that led to the formation of Rock 'n Roll.
Fri August 13: 'Down To The Crossroads - The Blues Singers.'
Fri August 20: 'Ride That Gospel Train - The Roots/Influence of Black Gospel.'
Fri Aug 27: 'In the Midnight Hour - The Soul Years'
Fri September 3: 'Honky Tonkin' - Country to Rockabilly to Country Rock'.
Fri September 10: 'Walkin' The Strings - The Acoustic Electric Wizards.'
Fri September 17: 'Little Milton Who? - The Unsung Heroes of Rock n Roll.'
Fri September 24: 'Searching For The Source - The First Real 'Rock 'n Roll' Recording?'

If you don't have RTE Choice as part of your TV/radio package, go to the RTÉ site [link]www.rte.ie[/link], then select 'Radio', from the strip menu-choice. Navigate to 'Radio Choice' (on the right-hand panel) and click on to 'live stream'.
