The rock 'n' roll-inclined anti-comedian is over in September.
Team Hot Press’ post-Carlsberg Comedy Carlsberg withdrawal symptoms have been somewhat eased by the news that the very wonderful Neil Hamburger is playing the Dublin Sugar Club on September 2. Tickets are €22.
The alter ego of musician Gregg Turkington, Hamburger has released a number of albums on Drag City and shared a stage with the likes of Tenacious D, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy and Faith No More.
The last time he was in Ireland he was booed off stage by a tent-full of Ardal O’Hanlon fans who just weren’t ready for his existentialist one-liners about Paris Hilton, Michael Jackson and Courtney Love ("Hey, what's the difference, what is the difference, between Courtney Love and the American flag?
Well, it would be wrong to urinate on the American flag.") Hal Roach he ain't!
