Listeners should prepare themselves for the kaleidoscopic, mind-bending tones of VIP DJ Gaz Le Rock of Dublin band Mouthpiece, as RTÉ Radio prepare to officially launch The Loving Room Floor.
The show will celebrate the punk and garage genres, spanning everything from the classic street walking '70s trash of The Stooges and the '60s garage punk of The Standells, to bang-up-to-date modern killers like Henry Fiat's Open Sore.
Commenting on the new show, RTÉ 2fm's Dave Fanning said: "Punk is arguably the world's greatest ever counterculture movement and has influenced everyone from Costello to Cobain. It's great to see a show dedicated to people who truly rocked from their hearts."
The shows presenter Le Rock (aka Gazzy Wazzy) is one of Dublin's key punk provocateurs. Speaking about his own band, he says Mouthpiece "were formed in order to right many of the wrongs on the Dublin rock scene - namely a lack of decent high-octane punk rock 'n' roll - with an emphasis on having a good time, not tired, fake political posturing".

Along with classic and underground punk tracks, every week Le Rock will play hot tracks from Ireland's much overlooked, but nonetheless burgeoning, punk scene.
The Loving Room Floor launches on RTÉ 2XM, Friday, July 2 at 12.30pm, repeated Tuesdays at 9.30pm. You can listen to RTÉ 2XM online at [link]www.rte.ie/2xm[/link] or on NTL Chorus Channel 944.
