Sharon Shannon announces new album playlist
There's a Waterboys original in there, not to mention Shane MacGowan and Jerry Fish.
Sharon Shannon's new album, Saints and Scoundrels, is out on September 25.
There are a number of original Shannon compositions in there, with accompaniment from the accordion-player's usual touring band.
Sharon is reunited with Mike Scott and former Waterboys Steve Wickham and Anthony Thistlethwaite for the first time since 1990 on the track 'Saints and Angels', which was written for the iconic Fishermans Blues album of 1988 but failed to make the final running order.
Other vocal guests include The Cartoon Thieves, on the Shane MacGowan-penned 'Mama Lou'. Imelda May performs a song she has written specifically for the album, 'Don’t Tell The Devil (I Don’t Want To Go To Hell)', while Jerry Fish contributes 'Don't Drink for Once Dead'. The album finishes with Shane MacGowan's 'The Rake at the Gates of Hell', followed by an original instrumental by Shannon.
