Jandek plots Northern Irish tour
The cult American kicks off next month in Larne.
Houston-based folk loner Jandek embarks on his first ever tour which brings him – somewhat surrealy – to Older Fleet, Larne (July 19); Black Boat, Bangor (20); Black Box, Belfast (21); and The Mason, Derry (22).
The ultimate in lo-fi, the reclusive 59-year-old made his recorded debut in 1978 with Ready For The House, and has since then released over 50 albums including this year’s Hasselt Saturday.
Along the way he’s amassed a cult following that includes Mike Watt, Sonic Youth, Low, Death Cab For Cutie and Bright Eyes.
He’s also the subject of Jandek On Corwood, a cracking 2004, if you will, folkumentary that he didn’t appear in but endorsed.
