Jerry Fish to release Michael Madsen poetry record
...no, really! In the new Hot Press, Jerry Fish reveals details of an ongoing album project based on the poetry of Reservoir Dogs actor Michael Madsen.
The spoken-word album will feature some interesting collaborations as Fish reveals that he's already "managed to record Iggy Pop, Harry Dean Stanton and David Carradine".
The release date is currently unset, as Jerry says the record was put on hold while he worked on his new LP with The Mudbug Club, The Beautiful Untrue: "It’s something I had to shelve while I was working on this, because two projects just became too much. Jerry Fish was getting left behind – I had to get this record finished".
During the interview, Fish played HP's Peter Murphy some material from the Madsen album. The result was "quite an experience" Murphy confirms. For tough-guy insight and a healthy dose of swearing, have a sneak peak over at www.michaelmadsen.com.
To read the full interview – where Fish talks about the birth of his new label, the Mudbug Club's long-awaited new album, and collaborating with rising rockabilly sensation Imelda May (a friend of Jerry's since her teenage days) and Carol Keogh, along with Mr. Madsen – pick up the new Hot Press, in stores now.
