James Morrison tops the charts
James Morrison is the new Irish No.1.
The 24-year-old Morrison's album Songs For You, Truths For Me, released in the autumn, has become a new year hit, racing from No.14 to No.1 in the Irish Charts.
“We're delighted with the result," Universal’s Marketing Director Freddie Middleton told Hot Press, "as it’s the first Number 1 for James, in the world, with this album.” The record, which features the hit single 'You Make It Real', has gone top 5 in the UK.
Morrison’s current single 'Broken Strings' (featuring a duet with Nelly Furtado) is also doing exceptionally well, climbing this week to Number 2 in both the Irish Airplay and Irish Singles Charts. It is also currently No.2 in the UK, with another Universal act, Lady Gaga at No.1 with 'Just Dance'.
Morrisin’s debut album, Undiscovered, went straight into the top ten in the Irish Charts in 2006 and went on to sell over two million copies worldwide, making it one the biggest debut albums of that year.
