Billy Childish announces Irish show
Wild Billy Childish continues to make a complete cult of himself when he brings The Musicians Of The British Empire to Whelan’s for a U:Mack gig.
Childish, real name William Charlie Hamper, has managed to record over a hundred albums while pursuing parallel careers as an artist (2,000 paintings) and a writer (two novels and 30 volumes of poetry).
He’s also found time to go out with Tracy Emin, grow a luxuriant moustache that even Tom Mathews of this parish would be envious of and influence everyone from Beck and Kurt Cobain to The White Stripes and Mudhoney.
Billy Childish will perform with the Musicians of the British Empire on January 16 at Dublin's Whelan's.
Tickets are going for €18.
