Ash get covered by Annie Lennox
It’s not a news story we ever expected to write, but Annie Lennox has covered an Ash song as one of the bonus cuts on her new ‘Best Of’.
“I heard ‘Shining Light’ about six years ago and I couldn’t stop playing it,” Lennox tells Billboard. “I’ve done a more upbeat version of their song. It's somewhat exuberant and ecstatic and it has this dimension to it that works on all sorts of different levels.”
Reacting to the news Tim Wheeler enthuses: “I’m totally shocked. What a cool feeling it is to have someone great do a version of your song. Sweet dreams are made of this...”
Also appearing on next month’s The Annie Lennox Collection is her version of Keane’s ‘Closer Now’, which she describes as “exquisite and beautiful.”
In other Ash news, Tim is currently working on a 4CD deluxe edition of 1977, which is due in late September and will also include the Trailer mini-album, Live At The Wireless, Live At Reading 1996, and Rarities & B-Sides.
