Dum Da Dum
Melodie MC: “Dum Da Dum” (Virgin)
Funkdobiest: “Wopbabalubop” (Epic/Immortal Records); Melodie MC: “Dum Da Dum” (Virgin)
Funkdobiest have Cypress Hill’s mainman, D.J. Muggs at the mixing and production desks and their particular brand of high-pitched vocal and heavy doped-out dub-rap, which features Little Richard’s catchcry ‘wopbopalubop’ from his ‘Tutti Frutti’ might just be sharp enough to act as a seasonal stimulant to an ever-corpulent Fine Gael. However, the truth about the party policy of John Bruton’s gang of merry revellers is more likely to be summed up in Melodie MC’s radio and dance version of ‘Dum Da Dum’ since the chorus runs something like this: “Dum DaDaDaDa Dum/That’s the way you got to go/Now put your hands in the air/ When I say so.” Dumb?
Sounds like the perfect gift for the Fine Gael front bench, don’t you think? .
