Oh Yeah Music Centre gets new grant
The Ash and Snow Patrol-supported Oh Yeah Music Centre in Belfast has been awarded a £191,000 grant by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation Breakthrough Fund.
A British publisher and philanthropist who was also involved during the 1960s in the music business, Paul Hamlyn has made a total of £4.5 million available to arts-based projects that are in start-up mode.
The windfall will enable Oh Yeah to appoint local broadcaster and journalist Stuart Bailie (pictured) as their full-time CEO, and push forward the work which will transform the former bonded warehouse they’ve taken-over into a state-of-the-art studio, performance and office complex.
“The Breakthrough Fund seems to want to encourage mavericks, not people who fit neatly and naturally into bureaucratic boxes,” Bailie enthuses. “The Paul Hamlyn Foundation wants to make things happen.”
