ODi announces EP and tour
Leeds-based Wexford singer ODi, who reached the final 20 in this year’s Vodafone Bright New Sounds competition, is to release a new EP this summer.
The lead track on A Superman was produced by Ken McHugh aka Autamata, (Juno Falls, David Kitt). McHugh first heard ODi’s voice through MySpace and loved it so much he suggested a collaboration. They joined forces for a recording session in the magical setting of the Wicklow hills. ODi’s sidekicks Dave Redfearn (guitar) and Sean O`Leary (drums) also feature on the recording, as does Cora Venus Lunny on violin and viola.
Writing of her earlier recordings, Jackie Hayden in Hot Press described ODi as having “a winning voice”, and said that ‘A Superman’ allows her silky vocal to twist around a beguiling melody”.
Meanwhile ODi sets off on a 25-date Irish tour throughout July and August before returning to the UK to play support for Mark Geary on his September tour.
Her debut album A Superman is released on August 15.
