Following an appearance at Glastonbury this year, Kíla are planning a reunion gig with their friend and sometime collaborator Oki.
Native-Japanese musician Oki has played with Irish trad group Kíla before, and the two are now reuniting once more in a special London show this month.
On July 17 Ainu musician Oki and his band will play with Kíla at the South Bank Centre in London.
Oki specialises in mixing traditional Ainu Japanese music with reggae and dub. Kíla teamed up with him before for a Japan tour and collaborative album Kíla and Oki last year.
This gig marks a brief pit-stop in Kíla’s busy touring schedule, which sees them play Canada, Spain, Portugal, Belgium and Switzerland.
The band also play a few Irish dates on their Dúisigí tour: Cloughjordan Festival, Tipperary (June 28); Midlands Festival, Belvedere House, Mullingar (June 29); Féile an Dóilín, An Cheathrú Rua, Galway (August 3); Carrick Music Festival, Carrick-on-Shannon, Leitrim (15 August); Fleadh Ceoil Fringe Festival, Tullamore, Offaly (August 26); Dún Laoghaire Festival of World Cultures, Dublin (August 25); Electric Picnic, Stradbally, Laois (September 2).
