Myles Dungan presents RTE radio series from California
RTE’s Myles Dungan will present a new series on Radio 1, where he speaks to California’s top writers, activists, campaigners and thinkers.
Highway 101 is a new series, following broadcaster Myles Dungan on his travels across California, as he meets with some of the state’s most interesting minds.
The Radio 1 programme will feature interviews with less conventional figures in American culture and politics like '60s activist Tom Hayden, Native American Madonna Thunder Hawk and Pulitzer prize-winning journalist Lowell Bergman.
Myles' first guest, on Saturday July 7, is former CIA agent Bob Baer. After joining the CIA in the 1970s, Bob led a life of intrigue as an undercover agent, infiltrating terrorist groups and even attempting to overthrow Saddam Hussein. His dramatic life has also been made into a feature film, Syriana, which was based on his book.
In this unique interview we find out about Bob’s life in the CIA, and also what he thinks of Ireland’s national security.
And this is just the first programme in a nine-part series, which also sees Myles speak to a prominent former member of the Clinton administration, Robert Reich, and best-selling author Amy Tan, among others.
The first Highway 101 show is on RTE Radio 1 at 9.10am on Saturday July 7, and continues every week until September 1.
