MCD plans Phoenix Park gigs
Ireland’s biggest music promoter has enjoyed a range of successful summer gigs, and now it’s gearing up for the winter gig scene with new events planned for Dublin’s Phoenix Park.
Following the success of recent concerts with the likes of the Arctic Monkeys and Pink, MCD has made a deal to hold eight concerts in the Phoenix Park this winter.
Although there’s no word yet which acts will be playing the park, MCD has made a deal with the Office of Public Works to hold the events between October 16 and November 5.
The gigs are expected to have attendance of around 10,000, but MCD will now have to apply for a licence from Dublin City Council to make sure they can go ahead as planned.
Over the years Phoenix Park has played host to a number of big-name acts, including The Pixies and Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
Last year the Rolling Stones were set to play the park but the event was called off following legal wrangling between MCD and rival promoter Aiken.
