The Police to play Ireland?
There’s strong likelihood that the reformed Police will play Ireland when they sweep through Europe between mid-August and mid-October.
Although an official announcement isn’t due until this evening when Sting, Andy Summers and Stuart Copeland attend a press conference in Los Angeles’ legendary Whisky A Go Go club, leaked details reveal that the trio will kick off a lengthy world tour at Vancouver’s GM Palace on May 28.
Talking to Hot Press before Christmas, Summers spoke fondly of The Police’s Leixlip Castle gig when they were supported by fresh-faced Irish hopefuls U2, and the time he spent living in Kinsale. He remains a close personal friend of The Edge and his wife Morleigh, so a place to stay in Dublin shouldn’t be a problem!
The trio were a big hit at last night’s Grammy Awards in LA when they kicked the gong-giving ceremony off with a sprightly sounding ‘Roxanne’.
