MTV Europe Music Awards snub Ireland
The MTV Europe Music Award nominations have been announced, with no Irish bands in the running.
The annual event will be guest hosted by Justin Timberlake, who's currently topping both the Irish single and album charts.
Oxegen headliners Red Hot Chili Peppers lead the nominations as they're in the running for four. Madonna, Nelly Furtado, Shakira, Christina Aguilera, Kanye West and Muse follow closely with three nominations each.
However, this is the third year running that no Irish acts have been nomination for the regional UK & Ireland Act award, which is intended to reflect regional talent. In the running for that award are The Kooks, Lily Allen, Corrine Bailey Rae and Muse.
The star-studded ceremony takes place in Copenhagen, Denmark, on November 2.
Last year, an estimated one billion people watched the 2005 MTV Music Award held in Lisbon, Portugal.
