Kevin Shields to collaborate with Patti Smith

Yep, three months after revealing in an interview that she’s dying to work with him, the High Priestess of Punk is collaborating with Kevin Shields on a live recording of The Coral Sea, her tribute to photographer Robert Mapplethorpe.
The My Bloody Valentine/Primal Scream-er has signed on as musical director for the show, which takes place on September 12 in London’s South Bank Centre.
Smith will also be debuting a spoken word piece dedicated to the children of the Lebanon.
