Snow Patrol have added their old pal and Final Straw co-writer Iain Archer to their outdoor dates.
The reunion will take place at they play Marlay Park, Dublin (August 19) and Vital, Belfast (22).
Meanwhile, the release of his new album, Magnetic North, has been confirmed for October 6.
Available through new PIAS/Wall Of Sound imprint We Love You, it features ‘Canal Song (End Of Sentence)’, ‘Minus Ten’, ‘Collect Yourself’, ‘Soleil’, ‘Everything I’ve Got’, ‘Full Of Holes’, ‘Frozen Northern Shores’, ‘Long Jump’, ‘Luke’s Point’, ‘Lifeboat’ and ‘When It Kicks In’, which is also out as a single on September 22.
“That’s direct experiences of my younger years in Belfast,” Archer reveals. “One of the situations it describes is that I was in a band, and we were setting up in front of a little record shop, to play a showcase. And right around the corner, a limpet mine exploded on top of a police car. You can imagine the scenes of utter devastation. The song’s a collage of those sorts of events. They made me absolutely livid, looking back. But at the time, they’re purely terrifying. But really it’s talking about liberation from all that.”
