The millionth Irish signing by Universal in the past 12 months, Mullingar’s power pop wizards The Blizzards unleash their major label debut – and it’s a good ‘un. The lead track is as bouncy as anything by The Knack (they of ‘My Sharona’ fame) but with a layer of punk grittiness thrown in for good measure.
Better still, their backing track is a gentle reggae-tinged ditty with some spot-on lyrics, which reveals their breadth and ability in one well-played swoop. Expect their April gigs to be rather spectacular.
