There was a large turn-out of luminaries of the entertainment industry for the funeral service of Brian Molloy, which took place today at Foxrock church. Molloy, who was the founder of Hawk Records and later Lunar Records, and also a partner in Westland Studios, died after a long battle with cancer.
Among those in attendance were musicians Paul Brady, Mary Black, Mike Hanrahan, Kieran Hanrahan, Ronan Hardiman, Ronnie Drew, Finbar Furey and Maxi and Dick of Maxi, Dick and Twink.
Among the leading industry figures to pay tribute were many close friends and business associates of Brian Molloy, including Judy Cardiff, Nigel Duke, Barry Gaster, of the Corrs management team, Denis Desmond and Caroline Downey of MCD, Dave Pennefather of Universal Music, John McColgan, Shay and Dympna Healy, solicitor James Hickey, Donie Cassidy TD, Joe O’Reilly and Paul O’Reilly of Dara Records, broadcasters Brendan Balfe, Dave Fanning and Ursula Courtney of RTE, James Morris of TV3, Willie O’Reilly, Brian Adams and Sam Smyth of Today FM, members of the Phantom FM group, Tony and Stuart Bradfield, Jackie Johnston, former RTE producer Ian McGarry and publishers Michael O’Riordan, Peter Bardon and Johnny Lappin.

Fr.Brian Darcy co-celebrated the funeral mass, and the singing for the occasion was provided by the tenor Eoin Brady, a protégé of Molloy’s. Brian’s son Graham spoke to the gathering, reminiscing humorously about his father’s life and times.
