Charlotte Hatherley teams up with XTC man
In what sounds like a thoroughly inspired pairing, Charlotte Hatherley has spent two days writing with XTC legend Andy Partridge in Swindon.
“We came out with some good tunes that I’ll be working on this month,”enthuses the moonlighting Ash guitarist. “We listened to Frank Zappa and Steely Dan and ate a shed full of curry – man, it was cool.”
As for the eagerly awaited follow-up to her Grey Will Fade solo debut, Chaz continues: “I have half an album to write, but I can do that at home so therefore it feels like a busman’s holiday. It’s Philip and Fern and Loose Women for me now!”
Meanwhile, bandmates Tim Wheeler and Mark Hamilton are back from their lost summer in Brooklyn and mapping out the next Ash LP with Rick McMurray who’s rumoured to be opening his own bar in Edinburgh.
We’ll keep you posted!
