The Marshal Stars sign Blue Mountain publishing deal
Keeping things on a small scale, Dublin three-piece The Marshal Stars are following confidently in the footsteps of U2
Having already signed a multi-album deal with Vertigo records, Dublin three-piece The Marshal Stars have joined the same Blue Mountain publishing stable as U2 and Bob Marley.
Explaining why they went for a relatively small independent, singer Michael Jon says: “We didn’t see the point of going with a major whose A&R department wine and dine you and then after signing you never talk to you again. With Blue Mountain we have an incredible team willing to work the band’s music hard at every possible opportunity.”
Leading that team is Chris Blackwell, the legendary industry man who founded Island Records in the ‘70s and has subsequently worked with everyone from Tom Waits and Polly Harvey to Jacknife Lee and the aforementioned U2.
Meanwhile, April 1 finds The Marshal Stars joining management stablemates Director for a gig in Dublin’s Voodoo Lounge.
They’re also contributing a track, ‘My Girl And I’, to the Irish rock sampler that’s being released in May by Dublin’s Faction label.
