Hot Press to launch Tisch videos in Dublin's Sugar Club
Top Irish bands meet New York's finest up-and-coming directors in the unveiling of music videos from the Hot Press/Tisch competition
Next week The Sugar Club will host the premiere screening of music videos from the Hot Press/Tisch competition.
Back in August, Hot Press launched a competition to give Irish musicians a unique opportunity to have their music videos directed and produced by film students from the prestigious Tisch School Of Arts, New York University.
Our judges trawled through a raft of demos and came up with a list of winners, which reads like a who's who of the Irish indie music scene: Republic Of Loose [pictured], Alphastates, Halite, Headgear, La Rocca, The Immediate, Juno Falls, Baby Jenks, Rulers Of The Planet and Me In The Park.
For these bands, it's been an opportunity as rare as they come. Not only have they been spared the mammoth expense of producing a music video, they've also been able to marry their first-rate audio with the visual talents of some of America's most promising film directors.
With the Tisch alumni including the likes of Martin Scorsese, Spike Lee, Chris Columbus and Oliver Stone, it's fair to say that everyone's a winner!
And now it's time for the great unveiling - at Dublin's Sugar Club on Tuesday, December 7. This is a strictly invite-only event but hotpress.com has kept a bunch of double passes to give away to our valued members.
To be in with a chance, send an email to [email protected] and include your name, phone number and the name of ONE of the Irish bands who will be appearing on the big screen that night.
For those unable to make it, it's safe to say that these masterpieces will be appearing on a small screen sometime soon...
