Live In Glenfarg
For his fifth solo album, Old Blind Dogs lead singer Jim Malcolm has wisely chosen to go the live route, finally giving those of us who haven’t had the privilege to see him in concert the chance to appreciate what a powerful performer he is.
For his fifth solo album, Old Blind Dogs lead singer Jim Malcolm has wisely chosen to go the live route, finally giving those of us who haven’t had the privilege to see him in concert the chance to appreciate what a powerful performer he is. Backing himself on a niftily fingerpicked guitar, plus the odd sweet blast of harmonica, he bends his low, pleasant voice around those rich Scottish vowels and consonants in a way that manages to be soothing and arresting at the same time. He’s also a equally dab hand at writing in a more contemporary vein, as ‘Road To New York (State)’ and the hilarious ‘The Party’ attest.
