Bowie takes Dublin by Storm

The 16,000 fans who attended David Bowie's Point Theatre gigs (pics Roger Woolman) will be able to see themselves on the telly next year. Yup, the Thin White Duke has decided to immortalise the Dublin leg of his Reality World Tour on DVD.

"I know it's the best place in the world to do it, you know it's the best place in the world to do and soon everybody else will," Bowie said to resounding cheers.
Indeed, the decibel level rarely dipped as he ran through a 27-song set which included such copper-fastened classics as 'Rebel Rebel', 'Life On Mars?', 'Ashes To Ashes', 'Five Years', 'Hang On To Yourself', 'Ziggy Stardust', 'The Man Who Sold The World' and 'All The Young Dudes'.
The latter led to a five minute delay in Def Leppard going on stage in Moscow – Joe Elliot's guitarslinging pal Ricky Warwick relaying it live to the Leps' dressing-room via-mobile phone!
Another person who enjoyed the shows – and got a hero's welcome when introduced to the crowd – was Bowie's Dubliner guitarist Gerry Leonard. Formerly one-half of Hinterland, Leonard is now an A-List session man with Avril Lavigne, Rufus Wainwright and Duncan Sheik among his recent employers.
