Tribute Album: A 'The Bairns O' Adam
The great Scottish poet, songwriter and folklorist Hamish Henderson died in March of last year, and almost immediately his friends and admirers began making plans for a tribute album.
The great Scottish poet, songwriter and folklorist Hamish Henderson died in March of last year, and almost immediately his friends and admirers began making plans for a tribute album. The result of their efforts includes both existing tracks, such as Dick Gaughan’s magnificent 1978 recording of ‘The Song Of The Gillie More’, and newly recorded contributions from Gordeanna McCulloch, Alison McMorland, Rod Paterson and others. Henderson himself appears in the form of a fragment of mouth music as well as an a cappella rendition of ‘The 51st Highland Division’s Farewell To Sicily’, recorded in 1951.
