Oguri presents Today - A Learning Axis
"Today the world is top-heavy with information. Humans are losing instinct and are like domestic animals without masters. Dance is the only way to restore the senses to a body in crisis." - Oguri
Oguri is a Los Angeles-based Japanese Butoh dancer who this year makes his third visit to Dublin to perform a new piece for the Fringe Festival.
In Today - A Learning Axis, Oguri explores the marriage of the primordial body/self with the modern industrio-technological world. With space for physical improvisation, Oguri delves into the universal darkness of Butoh - a post-apocalyptic dance style which emerged from Japan during the rebellious 60's culture.
Runs: 30 September - 1 October, 6.30pm @ SS Michael & John (upstairs) + 2 October, 7pm @ The Spiegeltent
