Blackalicious
The moment arrives… the B’Licious crew stroll on-stage and the crowd go ballistic
Creative Controle kick off this jam, showing us what a good dose of indigenous hip-hop should sound like, playing the stonking ‘Mass Theory’ and the epic ‘Bloodrush’ amongst others.
CC deliver an adrenaline-pumped set, waxing lyrical about optimism and pessimism in their trademark explosive style.
While we wait expectantly for Blackalicious’ Irish debut, DMC champ TU-KI takes to the decks to tease us with his beat mastery.
The moment arrives… the B’Licious crew stroll on-stage and the crowd go ballistic. Gift of The Gab & Lateef da Truth Speaker (Quannum) launch straight into the meat of it: “Who’s Rockin’ It?” Audience: “Yo Is!”. Thereafter, Blackalicious reign down on us with a combination of freestyle and improv, bouncing tracks from album to album, rappin’ and rhymin’ through ‘Sky Is Falling’ and the soulful ‘Make You Feel That Way’.
“This is the most ferocious song ever created in the history of music,” proclaims Gift, belting into ‘Alphabet Aerobics’. He speeds along like a rhythmical bullet; the faster he gets the more we jump and sway.
The crew don white pharmaceutical coats for ‘Chemical Callisthenics’, a spine-tingling experiment, burning their message into our collective souls.
Top hip-hop and no mistake.
