Cochise
The mere whiff of collaboration between Chris Cornell and the remnants of Rage Against The Machine is enough to make me all giddy and gleeful, hence it was with great caution and knee trembling excitement that I pushed play on ‘Cochise’.
However, instead of the genre-defining moment promised by the press release, Audioslave sound like a very good Soundgarden covers band. Formulaic, yet the undeniable lack of heart in this track makes it sound horribly contrived, and the void is filled with join-the-dots predicta-rock. Disappointing.
