Sinead O'Connor to perform at the inauguration ceremony for the Bibliothecha Alexandrina in Egypt
Egypt's First Lady, Mrs. Barak, has invited Sinéad O'Connor to perform at the inauguration ceremony for the Bibliothecha Alexandrina on October 16.
Over a thousand VIPs will be in attendance, including 16 heads of state and members of the various Scandinavian royal families.
Built on the site of the Ancient Library of Alexandria, it’s the biggest building of its kind in the world. Says a spokesperson: "Sinéad is honoured to be invited to participate in such an auspicious event and considers it a privilege to be part of history in the making."
O'Connor previously sang acapella at a 1994 Nobel peace concert in front of an audience that included Yitzhak Rabin, Shimon Peres and Yasser Arafat's wife, Sua Arafat.
