The Frames

God Bless Mom [Plateau]

This was directed by Daragh McCarthy, and shot in The International Bar.

I absolutely love this video for a couple of reasons. Firstly, it’s a very well-made cheap video, made by an Irish filmmaker who has translated his love of Irish independent music into the documentary form as well as video. Also, filming the band playing one of their intimate gigs, surrounded by friends, documents exactly what was going on with The Frames at the time. Close-up shots reflect the intimate nature of a Frames gig. And there’s even a shot of the boy Binzer in there for good measure.

A lesson to all poor bands (are there any other types?) on how to do it right.
