Pat Alger led matters off with a version of ‘Unanswered Prayers’ which, stripped to its element gave an idea of how good such songs actually are. In a show that lasted almost three hours Alger plus Kent Blazey, Kim Williams and Tony Arata gave a performance the like of which has not been seen since Four From Texas were in town about ten years ago. It was obvious that the quartet enjoyed things as much as we did from their on-stage demeanour, falling Bud bottles and bad jokes notwithstanding! This, it seems, was the first time the venue had promoted such an event, but on this evidence they could teach some other operators a thing or two.
