The Dublin club is lining up new premises
The people behind Hangar have stressed that the sale of their current Andrew's Lane Theatre home won't result in their closure.
The premises, which are mere yards from Hot Press, have been sold for €4.4 million with the new owners planning to turn it into a budget hotel offering Tokyo-style ‘pod’ accommodation.
In an official statement, the Hangar team reveal that they won't have to move out for at least a year, meaning lots more DJs, live shows and one-off parties round the back of Dame Street.
“When we started 18 months ago, we knew that the Andrew’s Lane site was only going to be the first incarnation of what our gig-goers, promoters and staff would become to know as Hangar," they explain. "Work has well and truly begun on Hangar 2 – a brand new city centre space that we’ll be revealing details of in due course. A home where the like-minded music fans that have populated Hangar will feel just as proud to call your new home as well.”
