Despite the unfavorable reviews that Batman Vs. Superman was crippled by, Ben Affleck's performance as Gotham's vigilante impressed many of the masses.
It's been long rumoured that Affleck would star in a standalone Batman feature but it was only yesterday that it was made official by Warner Bros.
Speaking at the CinemaCon event in Las Vegas, Warner Bros CEO Kevin Tsujihara was delighted to announce the news. The shortcomings of Batman V Superman does not in any way deter them from embarking on this film endeavor with Tsujihara arguing that it's the perfect lead into the Batman solo; “It set up a great foundation for our DC slate, which includes at least 10 movies through 2020." Seems like a lot of superhero crime-fighting by any standards.
Aside from starring as the main man, directing the feature, it's also believed that Affleck will pen the script. As to what the storyline will consist of remains unclear but there are plenty of avenues one could take with the troubled billionaire.
Affleck seems like the guy everyone loves to hate but there's no doubt that he is talented. With Oscar-winning performances to boot, an author of Good Will Hunting and an Oscar for his directional debut Argo, this gives reassurance to Affleck's ability to do justice to the Batman where Zack Snyder failed so tragically.
It will be some time before we get to see Batman go solo but in the meantime, Ben Affleck will be back on Batman duty roaming around with his allies in the Justice League film due out November 2017.
