Yesterday we reported on Aidan Turner possibly becoming the next 007 and now it appears Jack Reynor is also on his way to landing the role that may define his career.
The role of Hans Solo is up for grabs and Jack Reynor has been shortlisted.
The casting call for the Star Wars spin off saw a whopping 2,500 hopefuls audition for the role and it has been narrowed down to 4 young rising hopefuls, including our Wicklow man.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Reynor was brought to London last week in order to be screen tested for the role alongside his competition Taron Egerton (Eddie the Eagle), Aldren Ehrenreich (Hail, Caesar!) and Emory Cohen (Brooklyn).
If Reynor were to land the deal, it could change his life and by his own standards would be "an incredible gig to get". Star Wars has one of the biggest followings in cinema and the role of Hans Solo is iconic in itself. He was linked to the role late last year and when speaking to MTV, he commented; "You've got to fill some pretty seriously big boots there. We're talking Harrison Ford here. You can't do imitation; you can't try and just emulate what that is. It's got to be something new, and it's also got to be something that the audience is going to respond to."
Disney LucasFilms have yet to make comment on the rumours. The unnamed film is set for release in 2018 and will be a prequel to the origins of the beloved smuggler and his furry friend Chewbacca. It will be directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (21 Jump Street and The Lego Movie) and will be one of the biggest projects undertaken by Disney.
Yesterday we put our faith in Aidan Turner as 007 and we believe there's no better man for the job of Hans Solo than our Jack Reynor.
