Paradise lost
Unknown video pleasures to be had on tonight's No Disco, from - among other things - new dEcal album 404 Not Found
No Disco gives us what we're looking for once again (tonight, N2, 11.15pm) with a new video from dEcal's latest album, 404 Not Found.
As well, there's an interview with Welsh John Cale-baiters Gorky's Zygotic Mynci, more videos from Richard Hawley and a newie from Capital K.
The usual No Disco departments are also predictably bulging with good stuff. Audio On will be spotlighting Scottish electro-pioneers Boards of Canada, whose newest, Geogaddi, got what Steve Albini would doubtlessly refer to as "eleven fucking dots" on the Hot Press dice. As well, Back In The Day features an oldie but wonderful-ie from No Disco (and indeed, Hot Press) faves The Plague Monkeys.
Lastly but not leastly there's a competition to win a Melted Snow Survival Kit, thanks to new Dublin bunch Saso - a competition that wants entering just to see what the thing is when it's at home, we think.
In related disco-free news, the final two No Disco-associated New Breathe gigs in Dublin's POD are fast approaching. Saturday March 9th sees Belfast's Desert Hearts headlining (filling in for British Sea Power), supported by Goodtime John and Subrosa - and a ticket competition for same is on deck for tonight's programme. Meanwhile, Saturday March 16th, the final New Breathe, features excellent guns-n-bitches-free West Coast hip-hop types People Under The Stairs, with TY, Exile Eye and DJ Flip.
Stay tuned for an encounter with People Under The Stairs in an upcoming edition of Hot Press.
