Rob Doyle and Dave Haslam among the familiar faces set to weigh in on Sunday.
As part of the spoken word offerings at Metropolis this weekend, a selection of writers and DJs will be proving their multimedia credentials by discussions the links, differences, and all other matters music and literature.
Among those to take the stage on Sunday afternoon for a grilling from our own Roisin Dwyer will be homegrown hero Rob Doyle (pictured), the author of the highly acclaimed Here Are The Young Men. He’ll be flanked by Nelson George, who’s twice been nominated for the prestigious National Book Critics Circle Award. He’s authored books on Michael Jackson and James Brown, as well creating a documentary on hip-hop and serving as co-executive producer of VH1’s Hip Hop Honors – fair to say, then, that he straddles the two topics with aplomb.
The same could be said of Nadine O’Regan, who juggles her duties as Books and Arts editor at the Sunday Business Post with her hosting duties on TXFM. Another whose toes have been submerged in both worlds is Dave Haslam, who combined Hacienda duties with a journalism career that’s seen him write for NME, The Guardian, and the London Review Of Books, as well as starting his Close Up series that’s seen him wag chins with the likes of Will Self and Jonathan Franzen.
With a quartet so well suited to thrashing out the issues at hand, we’re certainly looking forward to it; the discussion kicks off on Sunday at 14.15.
