Desert Drought
Mr.Power needs to lay off the electric Woodbines and gives us the goods I believe he’s capable of.
I met John Power once after a La’s gig. Visibly moved, I commented on the gig I’d just seen, apologising for my emotional state. “’S all right, la,” he replied, “that’s ‘cos you’ve gorra soul.” Really nice guy. Mind you, I’ve always thought Cast were god-awful. ‘Desert Drought’ is standard Primal Scream-type electro rock that at least sees Cast experimenting with different musical forms and distancing themselves from Power’s unbeatable debut act. Still needs more work, though. The re-mix of the title track’s a little belter, but Mr. Power needs to lay off the electric Woodbines and gives us the goods I believe he’s capable of. ‘Cos he was a really nice guy, honest.
