Ireland's best up-and-coming acts can seal a spot at the Stradbally weekender
The second annual 2fm’s Play the Picnic with Oxfam is once again on the lookout for 10 of Ireland's top up-and-comers to play at this year's Electric Picnic.
Last year saw the likes of Little Hours (pictured) take the stage in Stradbally, and this year will again see acts get their chance to pack their bags for the weekender.
Efforts from every genre are invited, and after being whittled down to a longlist of 30 by an expert judging panel, the public will be invited to vote for their favourites. In addition, one lucky act will be chosen to play one of the Picnic's bigger stages, as well as sealing masterclasses with top engineers, 2fm's Mark McCabe and the Picnic head honcho, Melvin Benn.
Head of 2fm, Dan Healy, says: “Last year’s Play the Picnic was an enormous success and we’re very proud of our partnership with Oxfam; a partnership which we are thrilled to continue with in 2015. Giving talented bands the opportunity to make their mark on our musical landscape is something that 2fm is strongly committed to. Teaming up with the country’s biggest festival, Electric Picnic, is a very tangible way of supporting artists here in Ireland.”
