There's a real party mood today in Kilmainham
The sun is still shining, and the Hot Press Speakeasy has just been comprehensively folk rocked by Heroes In Hiding who treated us to a couple of acoustic crackers including 'Casanova'. They were also in top form earlier on the Live, Live Stage which is where East India Youth is playing at 8.30pm tonight. Mr. Doyle is on sight and looking damn sharp in his suit - a sartorially elegant look mirrored by his tour manager. He's joining us at 6.30pm in the Speakeasy, so make sure to come down early and bag your seat.
Harnessing our Padre Pio-like powers of bi-location, we managed to catch everyone kicking the day off on the respective stages. The Trinity Orchestra's take on the Gorillaz was even more impressive than their wrestling a few years back with Radiohead.
One imagines that Damon Albarn would be mightily impressed with their finding of new nuances in songs like ''All Alone' and 'Kids With Guns'. The musicianship and energy levels were both off the scale...
Despite it only being a smidgeon past three, the Moth DJs were in banging techno form with some seriously psychedelic fish visuals adding to the visceral fun. The mood was mellower and more soulful on the Lighthouse Stage where Hot Press' very own Will Kinsella was on the 1s and 2s.
Being sociable types, we dropped in on our pal Nadine O'Regan who was broadcasting her TXFM show live from the Bulmers Lounge. Being greedy types we also got the Mothership lode from Pieminister. Proper festival order!
