Though we cannot confirm, we suspect that Hollywood is mandated to fill a certain quota of exorcism movies every year, so while The Vatican Tapes may be the first of many, that doesn't make it look any less frightening.

From the trailer alone, the setup doesn't seem terribly different from a lot of these sorts of flicks, aside from a more prominent role played by secret Vatican video tapes in the affairs, but for our money, quality actors like Michael Peña and Djimon Hounsou could help this film stand out from the pack.
