The attempts to game the UK festive rundown were largely unsuccessful
It's become something of a Christmas tradition at this point; fan-backed campaigns to push an unlikely track towards the summit of the UK festive charts.
Ever since Rage Against The Machine secured top spot with 'Killing In The Name', the anti-X Factor brigade have been plucking ideas to hold the TV talent show victors off the No. 1. And while Ben Haenow managed to outsell his rivals, there were small success stories to enjoy this year.
The Wealdstone Raider - the star of an unlikely viral sensation filmed at a non-league football game - was catapulted up to the lofty heights of No. 5 in the UK, with the rather unimaginatively remixed 'Got No Fans'. It was still far more successful than the efforts of Iron Maiden supporters to get their beloved rock group to the top; 'Number Of The Beast' only made it to No. 44.
There was no room for LFO, whose fans attempted to mark the untimely death of Mark Bell by having their eponymous track chart. It failed to make the top 100.
