September showcase officially set afloat on Leeside
A little over a month before the likes of Wild Beasts (pictured), The Gloaming and organiser Bryce Dessner hit Cork, the official launch of Sounds from a Safe Harbour took place last night.
The brand new festival is a collaborative effort between The National's Dessner and Cork Opera House CEO Mary Hickson. Speaking at the event, Hickson said "The good will and enthusiasm generated around this project has been overwhelming. It has been a pleasure to dream up and realise this project with Bryce Dessner and we look forward to showing off our amazing city to him and so many more national and international artists over the 4 days in September."
Other big names included in the line up include Aaron Dessner and Lisa Hannigan, Richard Reed Parry of Arcade Fire fame, and a plethora of Irish acts involved in a music trail across the city.
