With a career spanning 40 years, Vivian Campbell has established himself as one of Northern Ireland’s leading names in rock. Vivian started off performing with Sweet Savage, a band that is considered one of the most influential of the ‘New Wave of British Metal’. His songs from this period influenced groups like Metallica, who released a cover of the Sweet Savage song ‘Killing Time’ on their 1998 release Garage Inc.
Vivian is perhaps most well-known for his extended tenure with the legendary Def Leppard. A band that he has been an active member of for 25 years.
Recently, Vivian has been living in Los Angeles where he helped to establish the Hollywood United Football Club along with several other Irish and British celebrities.
Previous recipients of the Oh Yeah Legends Award are: Terri Hooley (2008), Henry McCullough (2009), The Undertones (2010), Stiff Little Fingers (2011), Gary Moore (posthumous) (2012), Therapy? (2014), Divine Comedy (2015) and Ash (2016).
Vivian had this to say about receiving the award: "I've been very fortunate that my life's work has also been my passion. It's an honour to be recognised for that, and especially so when that recognition comes from my fellow countrymen."
