Whelan’s supports female musicians and hosts a charity fundraiser tonight.
Women on Wednesdays (WOW) is back at Whelan’s upstairs tonight, with collection of female artists taking the stage all evening.
The likes of Vernon Jane, Ailie, Rachael Lavelle, Sasha Terfous and Natalya O'Flaherty will be in attendance, performing a mixture of music and spoken word. The gig starts at 8 p.m. and a silent disco will take place at 11 p.m., following the gig.
WOW is collaborative effort between Whelans, not-for-profit Aidlink Ireland and record label Born Optimistic. In addition to its mission to provide a platform for female artistry, the event will raise money for Aidlink’s “Girls’ Education Programme” which supports rural Kenyan students.
Standard tickets for the event are going for €10 and €6 for students with valid student IDs. The event is strictly over 18, so ID may be required at the door.
