A subdued, sincere take on an 80s track featuring the guitar legend
The cuts from Van's new album, Duets: Reworking the Catalogue just keep coming! Today we have 'Irish Heartbeat', which first appeared on Inarticulate Speech of the Heart in 1983.
The new version of the tune features former Dire Straits frontman and guitar legend Mark Knopfler singing and playing in his typical restrained style throughout with a nice couple of tasteful solos that meld perfectly into the stripped down take. It's a gem.
Duets hits shelves on March 24, featuring reworked versions of lesser known tunes from all stages of Van's sprawling career, with guests including Michael Bublé, Bobby Womack, Mavis Staples and Steve Winwood.
