Desire Lines
There’s a lot to love on Kildare crooner’s new album.
Cannily released in time to coincide with the ever divisive day for lovers that is – or rather was – February 14, Kildare-based singer-songwriter Valentine Black (aka Peco McLoughlin) unveils his debut record Desire Lines. It’s an effort that’s steeped in ‘70s rock sensibilities. Bowie and Dylan are evoked in a ten-track effort that swoons and sways with the best of them. In many ways Desire Lines is like a love letter to the power of the humble hook and songs such as ‘The State We’re In’ and the trumpet-infused ‘Some Kind Of Connection’ are as catchy as anything you’ll hear all year.
