Minister Jan O'Sullivan announces four new ventures to receive funding
Music Generation, the national music education programme initiated by Music Network following a €7m philanthropic donation by U2 and The Ireland Funds, is set to introduce four new partnerships around Ireland.
The new ventures in Cork City, Laois, South Dublin and Wicklow represent a further step in the programme's efforts to transform Ireland's musical landscape.
Since its foundation in 2009, Music Generation has established partnerships in 12 counties, creating access for up to 20,000 children and young people and providing employment opportunities for over 250 professional musicians. Today, Minister Jan O'Sullivan announced the expansion at an event in Laois, where she had the opportunity to see for herself the fruits of the programme's labour.
Welcoming the newest advance in Music Generation's development, The Edge said: “U2 are very proud of the success of Music Generation and it’s exciting to see the programme continue to expand. We would like to thank all of the partners involved for their commitment to making high quality affordable music tuition available to generations of Irish to come.”
